The Neurokinex specialist neurological activity-based rehabilitation centre in Watford has launched a Stroke support group, to help those who have recently suffered a Stroke to regain their strength and mobility. The sessions are led by a team of Neurokinex experts and take place every Thursday from 10am until 11am.
The new Stroke group is designed to bring people together to enjoy a one-hour exercise session and is suitable for people who can walk and stand without an aid as well as those who can walk with an aid safely.
The functional training session is designed to restore strength, especially to the weaker side of the body. Participants will take part in a range of activities as they work in pairs including:
• A 10-minute warm-up and 10-minute cool-down
• Upper and lower body exercises
• Resistance and body weight exercises to build strength
• Cardiovascular exercises to build stamina
In addition, Neurokinex is also offering a free 60-minute assessment and 60-minute rehab trial session for people affected by a Stroke in the last year. Working closely with individuals, its expert trainers will recommend how best to rebuild their strength and stamina which might involve one-to-one or the new group sessions.
“We’re delighted to be launching these new Stroke sessions here at our Watford facility,” says Jane Symonds, Neurokinex centre manager. “This is a great opportunity for those within our local community to receive specialist rehabilitation support to help them get back on their feet. In addition, the social aspect will help people who have suffered a Stroke to meet up and offer mutual understanding and support.”
The Stroke group costs £8 per session and can be paid in cash on the day. For more information or to attend please call the Neurokinex team on 0300 777 7188.
