Jasper was the first paediatric client to attend Neurokinex aged just two in March 2016. Born fit and well, Jasper contracted Hand, Foot & Mouth disease at a children’s party and a rare complication of this disease resulted in him being admitted to hospital with an enlarged heart and put on life support. However, when the doctors brought him round, Jasper couldn’t move his legs: a blood clot had damaged his lower spinal cord and he was paralysed from the waist down.

After Jasper was discharged from Stoke Mandeville spinal care hospital in March 2016, he needed specialist rehabilitation for his best chance of recovery and came to Neurokinex.

In 2018, he was among the first to enjoy using Neurokinex Kids – our purpose-built activity area for children.

Jasper already gives part of his ‘chore money’ each month to Neurokinex Kids to help other children. So, he is delighted to know that the sales of his Christmas card design will go to the charity too.

Each pack of 10 cards costs £6.50 (+ £3 postage) with all proceeds from the sale going to support our life-changing work for adults and children with spinal cord injury.
